From November to April divers have an increased chances to see whale sharks and mantas, the season peaks around the end of February/beginning of March. During this period they organise whale shark tagging expeditions with the East African whale shark trust and the Hubbs sea world center from San Diego. Southern Cross Scuba use spotter planes to find the animals and then bring their guests and scientists there by boat. The reefs in Diani are in a very good state and healthy, so divers can expect a huge variety of fish, crustaceans, moray eels, sting rays sea turtles etc all year round. Sorry, no sharks but the whale shark.

Southern Cross Scuba is one of the world’s first diving operators to exclusively issue all diving certificates including a donation in support to the AWARE foundation in the UK. They are open 52 weeks a year and can run diving courses anytime, even when the sea is too rough to go beyond the reef to dive, the lagoon is deep enough to teach people safely and with a fun experience.
